Additional Information

Introduction: Including academic achievements and results
Currently an undergraduate mathematics student at King's College London, I have over 3 years experience tutoring. My pupils have received higher grades than expected. I'm comfortable teaching people of all ages and am patient, supportive and motivational. I will always stretch and challenge individuals to achieve more. Previous qualifications include A-Levels: Mathematics (A) Further Mathematics (A) Physics (A) Music (B) and GCSEs: 7A* 5A. Most importantly, I have recent first hand experience of all relevant examinations.
My views and outlook on teaching
I love to teach and learn. The biggest hurdle is often just getting the confidence to begin solving the problem, then the rest sorts itself. Young people are limitlessly creative and I love to nurture that; there is nothing better than to see a pupil go from not taking an interest to informing you about their newest discoveries in the subject. My dedication and passion for all my study means I give that little bit extra you wouldn't get from someone just telling you the facts.
Teaching experience
I have been a private tutor for 3 years and have been a professional tutor at Oxbridge Tutors, London, teaching classes of about 6 at primary to A-Level standard and am also currently part of Greater London Tutors, Holland Park Tutors and The Tutors Group providing professional personal tuition. I have done work with children through a charity in India. This enhanced my ability to communicate as many did not speak English. We managed, as a small team, to explain games and puzzles and entertain them. I've also been a Duke of Edinburgh's award leader and have taught many to map read, giving them noticeable confidence.
Other information - back ground in subjects taught, personal goals and achievements
I play trumpet at grade 8 standard and my music theory knowledge is very good. Would be able to give advice on compositional techniques and theory above normal A2 level syllabus. I'm currently part of a team setting up a radio station at King's College London which will hopefully go live in September 2010. I co-ordinate all programming and features. http://www.thepodradio.co.uk/
